What is a pressure transmitter?

The manufacturers of pressure sensors use many different terms for the various designs of measuring instruments, such as pressure sensor, pressure transmitter, pressure transducer, etc.

The working principle of a pressure transmitter is as follows: The pressure of the medium to be measured is guided via a standard process connection thus affecting the internal pressure sensor element. The internal electronics converts the raw sensor signal into a filtered, amplified, temperature-compensated and standardized signal, such as the 4…20 mA signal.
